RESUMO

Moiré effects arising from mutually twisted metasurfaces have showcased remarkable wave manipulation capabilities, unveiling tantalizing emerging phenomena such as acoustic moiré flat bands and topological phase transitions. However, the pursuit of strong near-field coupling in layers has necessitated acoustic moiré metasurfaces to be tightly stacked at narrow distances in the subwavelength range. Here, moiré effects beyond near-field interlayer coupling in acoustics are reported and the concept of coupling-immune moiré metasurfaces is proposed. Remote acoustic moiré effects decoupled from the interlayer distance are theoretically, numerically, and experimentally demonstrated. Tunable out-of-plane acoustic beam scanning is successfully achieved by dynamically controlling twist angles. The engineered coupling-immune properties are further extended to multilayered acoustic moiré metasurfaces and manipulation of acoustic vortices. Good robustness against external disturbances is also observed for the fabricated coupling-immune acoustic moiré metasurfaces. The presented work unlocks the potential of twisted moiré devices for out-of-plane acoustic beam shaping, enabling practical applications in remote dynamic detection, and multiplexed underwater acoustic communication.

RESUMO

With the implementation of ecological protection and a high-quality development strategy in the Yellow River Basin, the environmental conditions around the Yellow River have attracted wide attention from scholars. In this study, the soil of drinking water sources(Heichi and Liuchi) in the typical suspended reach of the lower reaches of the Yellow River was selected as the research object. The geo-accumulation index and pollution load index were used to analyze the pollution characteristics of seven heavy metals(Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, and As), and correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and absolute factor score-multiple linear regression(APCS-MLR) were employed to reveal the sources of soil heavy metals from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. The health risk assessment model recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency(USEPA) was used to analyze the impact of soil heavy metals on human health, and the contribution rate of pollution sources to health risks was analyzed by combining the APCS-MLR model. The results showed that the average values of ω(Cr), ω(Ni), ω(Cu), ω(Zn), ω(Cd), ω(Pb), and ω(As) in the soil around the water source were 60.27, 30.00, 35.14, 77.75, 0.38, 21.74, and 9.70 mg·kg-1, respectively. Except for As, the contents of Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb were higher than the background values of soil elements in the fluvo-aquic soil area of the lower Yellow River, whereas the contents of Cu and Zn in the soil around Liuchi were significantly higher than those in Heichi. Both the geo-accumulation index and the single-factor index showed that the black pond and the willow pond were slightly polluted by heavy metals, and Cd was the main pollution factor. The pollution load index model showed that the number of non-polluted and mildly polluted samples in the study area accounted for 5% and 95% of the total samples, respectively, indicating that the study area was at a mild pollution level. The source apportionment showed that Cr, Ni, Cu, and As were mainly affected by parent materials. The analysis results of the APCS-MLR model showed that the soil pollutants in the study area were mainly from natural sources, traffic sources, agricultural sources, and unknown sources, and their contribution rates were 42.95%, 23.39%, 16.95%, and 16.71%, respectively. The health risk assessment showed that As was the main non-carcinogenic factor, and Ni was the main carcinogenic factor. The non-carcinogenic risk of heavy metals to adults and children was negligible, and there was a tolerable carcinogenic risk to the human body. For both adults and children, the non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risk contribution rates of the four pollution sources were:natural sources>unknown sources>traffic sources>agricultural sources, among which natural sources contributed the most to non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the characteristics, sources, and effects of soil pollution on human health around the water source area of the suspended reach of the lower reaches of the Yellow River, which is of great significance for the protection of water sources and provides theoretical support for the high-quality development of the ecological environment along the Yellow River.

RESUMO

AIMS: This study aimed to identify different profiles of chronic disease resource utilization among patients with coronary heart disease in Tibet and explore the relationship between these profiles and quality of life. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study. METHODS: Patients with coronary heart disease who were treated in a tertiary hospital in Tibet and its cooperative points from January 2021 to July 2021 were selected as the study participants. All participants completed a general information questionnaire, the Chronic Disease Resource Utilization Questionnaire (CIRS) and the Health Status Survey Short Form (SF-36). Chronic disease resource utilization was profiled, and its relationship to quality of life was explored using hierarchical linear regression. RESULTS: A total of 382 patients were enrolled in this study. Regarding chronic disease resource utilization, the participants were divided into three latent profiles: 'Poor utilization group' (n = 151), 'Effective utilization group' (n = 155) and 'Full utilization group' (n = 76). Different profiles of chronic disease resource utilization of patients were significantly associated with quality of life (R2 = .126, p < .001). CONCLUSION: Healthcare providers should identify patients with different profiles, define their utilization features of chronic disease resources and adopt targeted interventions to guide them in acquiring enough disease support resources to improve their quality of life. IMPLICATION: Understanding different resources using preferences of coronary heart disease patients can help healthcare providers and related sectors to provide other supports based on different profiles of patients, thus enhancing their quality of life. REPORTING METHOD: The study followed the STROBE guideline. NO PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: There was no patient or public involvement in the design of the study.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) negatively affects the quality of life of pregnant women and is influenced by several factors. Research to date treats pregnant women with gestational diabetes as a homogeneous group based on their quality of life. We attempted to identify subgroups based on self-reported quality of life and explored variables associated with subgroups. METHODS: From September 1, 2020 to November 29, 2020, pregnant women with GDM from two hospitals in Guangdong Province were selected as subjects by convenience sampling method. Medical records provided sociodemographic data, duration of GDM, pregnancy status, and family history of diabetes. Participants completed validated questionnaires for quality of life, anxiety and depression. Latent profile analysis was used to identify profiles of quality of life in pregnant women with GDM, and then a mixed regression method was used to analyze the influencing factors of different profiles. RESULTS: A total of 279 valid questionnaires were collected. The results of the latent profile analysis showed that the quality of life of pregnant women with GDM could be divided into two profiles: C1 "high worry-high support" group (75.6%) and C2 "low worry-low support" group (24.4%). Daily exercise duration and depression degree are negative influencing factors, making it easier to enter the C1 group (p < 0.05). Disease duration and family history of diabetes are positive influencing factors, making it easier to enter the C2 group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The quality of life of pregnant women with GDM had obvious classification characteristics. Pregnant women with exercise habits and depression are more likely to enter the "high worry-high support" group, and health care providers should guide their exercise according to exercise guidelines during pregnancy and strengthen psychological intervention. Pregnant women with a family history of diabetes and a longer duration of the disease are more likely to fall into the "low worry-low support" group. Healthcare providers can strengthen health education for them and improve their disease self-management abilities.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: AMI incidence in young and middle-aged patients is increasing year by year, and such patients are prone to negative emotions after illness, which affects health outcomes. However, post-traumatic growth can bring about positive changes in the patient, which is beneficial to their recovery. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to understand the different types of post-traumatic growth characteristics and their related factors in young and middle-aged patients with acute myocardial infarction to help find precise intervention measures. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study. Self-reported questionnaires were used to assess general demographic characteristics, post-traumatic growth, and rumination. The mean of the five dimensions of the Post-traumatic Growth Scale was used to perform a Latent profile analysis. RESULTS: A total of 312 participants, including 285 male and 27 female patients, with the mean age was 51.95±5.75. Latent profile analysis results showed that three-profile model was the most suitable. Three different profiles were named: the "Malgrowth group" (45.51%), the "Good growth group" (18.91%), and the "Excellent growth group" (35.58%). The related factors included rumination, age, monthly income, whether to return to work, marital status, residential address, classification of disease, and whether to perform PCI treatment (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: According to our results, the post-traumatic growth of young and middle-aged AMI patients can be divided into three profiles, and targeted intervention can be carried out for patients according to the determined patient profiles.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Psychosocial adjustment is a core problem faced by young and middle-aged patients following a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), which seriously affects rehabilitation outcomes. However, the relationship and influencing mechanism between post-traumatic growth and psychosocial adjustment in young and middle-aged AMI patients have not been fully explored. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to determine the relationship between posttraumatic growth and psychosocial adjustment in young and middle-aged patients following AMI and to explore the mediating role of rumination. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Guangdong Province from January 2022 to August 2022. A total of 321 young to middle-aged patients with AMI participated in this study. Self-reported questionnaires were used to assess posttraumatic growth, rumination, and psychosocial adjustment. Pearson's correlation and path analyses were used to analyze the data. RESULTS: The total scores for posttraumatic growth, rumination, and psychosocial adjustment in young and middle-aged patients with AMI were 51.24±19.35, 35.18±8.72, and 43.55±26.04, respectively. All three were considered moderate. Posttraumatic growth was positively associated with rumination and negatively associated with psychosocial adjustment (p < 0.01). The relationship between posttraumatic growth and psychosocial adjustment was mediated by deliberate rumination. CONCLUSIONS: Deliberate rumination mediated the relationship between posttraumatic growth and psychosocial adjustment. Healthcare providers should therefore guide patients to engage in deliberate rumination to help them grow following their AMI, thereby improving their psychosocial adaptability and prognosis.

RESUMO

Extreme impedance mismatch causes sound insulation at water-air interfaces, limiting numerous cross-media applications such as ocean-air wireless acoustic communication. Although quarter-wave impedance transformers can improve transmission, they are not readily available for acoustics and are restricted by the fixed phase shift at full transmission. Here, this limitation is broken through impedance-matched hybrid metasurfaces assisted by topology optimization. Sound transmission enhancement and phase modulation across the water-air interface are achieved independently. Compared to the bare water-air interface, it is experimentally observed that the average transmitted amplitude through an impedance-matched metasurface at the peak frequency is enhanced by ≈25.9 dB, close to the limit of the perfect transmission 30 dB. And nearly 42 dB amplitude enhancement is measured by the hybrid metasurfaces with axial focusing function. Various customized vortex beams are experimentally realized to promote applications in ocean-air communication. The physical mechanisms of sound transmission enhancement for broadband and wide-angle incidences are revealed. The proposed concept has potential applications in efficient transmission and free communication across dissimilar media.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: While single-method studies have reported on the effectiveness of simulated interprofessional teaching, our understanding of its full effects remains incomplete. Teaching design also provides no relevant theoretical guidance, which reduces the scientific quality and rigor of research. The purpose of this work was to study the effects of the simulated interprofessional education (SIPE) teaching model based on the 3P theory on the course of "Clinical Critical Thinking Training" through a convergent mixed method, and to provide the basis for future teaching design. METHODS: A convergent mixed-method design was used, which consisted of a survey and a semi-structured interview. Data collection took place from September 2021 to July 2022. A cluster sampling method was used to select 60 full-time nursing students from a school in China, and randomly divide them into a control group of 36 and an experimental group of 24. According to the principle of voluntary participation, 6 students majoring in clinical medicine and 6 students majoring in pharmacy were recruited to join the experimental group to form an interprofessional team. The students studied "Clinical Critical Thinking Training" together, in which the control group used traditional simulation teaching and the experimental group used SIPE. The CCTDI (California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory) and AITCS-II Student (Assessment of Interprofessional Team Collaboration in Student Learning Scale) were used for quantitative evaluation before and after the course, and descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U test were used to compare the critical thinking and interprofessional collaboration skills of the two groups of students. Semi-structured interviews were used for qualitative evaluation. Thematic analysis was used to understand student development on the basis of inter-professional core competencies and learning experience. RESULTS: The students' interprofessional cooperation abilities and critical thinking scores improved compared with the beginning of the course, but the scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than the control group (p < 0.05). Three themes emerged regarding simulated interprofessional teaching: clarifying team positioning, improving team efficiency, and optimizing the learning experience. CONCLUSION: SIPE can build students' critical thinking, teamwork, and interprofessional core competencies, which makes it a useful teaching design.

RESUMO

Background: Inflammation promotes the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we explored the effect of dexmedetomidine on inflammation and cognitive function in a mouse model of AD. Methods: 5xFAD mice were intragastrically administered saline, dexmedetomidine, or dexmedetomidine and yohimbine for 14 days. The effects of dexmedetomidine on the acquisition and retention of memory in the Morris water-maze test and Y maze were evaluated. The deposition of amyloid beta protein (Abeta) and cytokine levels in the hippocampus were assessed. The expression of Bace1 protein and NFκB-p65 protein was assessed by Western blotting. Results: Compared with WT mice, 5xFAD mice exhibited cognitive impairment in the Morris water maze test and Y maze test. Cognitive decline was alleviated by dexmedetomidine and this was reversed by the α2 adrenoceptor antagonist yohimbine. Compared with saline treatment, dexmedetomidine led to a reduction in the Abeta deposition area (p < 0.05) and in the mean gray value (p < 0.01) in the hippocampus of 5xFAD mice. Compared with saline treatment, dexmedetomidine inhibited the activation of astrocytes and microglia in the hippocampal DG of 5xFAD mice and reduced the area of GFAP (p < 0.01) and IBA1 (p < 0.01). The level of IL-1ß in the hippocampus decreased significantly after dexmedetomidine treatment compared with saline treatment in 5xFAD mice (p < 0.01). Yohimbine neutralized the effects of dexmedetomidine. Dexmedetomidine inhibited the expression of BACE1 and NF-κB p65 (p < 0.01), and these changes were reversed by yohimbine treatment. Conclusion: Dexmedetomidine alleviates cognitive decline, inhibits neuroinflammation, and prevents the deposition of Abeta in 5xFAD mice. The effect is mediated by the α2 adrenoceptor-mediated anti-inflammatory pathway. Dexmedetomidine may be effective for the treatment of AD and a better choice for the sedation of AD.

RESUMO

Microhabitat factors play an important role in regulating bryophyte species distribution and the development of bryophyte-dominated biological soil crusts (hereafter bryophyte crusts). We investigated the distribution and development of bryophytes in eight microhabitats in the water-wind erosion crisscross region of the Loess Pla-teau. We used the line intercept transects to explore and quantify the influencing pathways of microhabitat factors on bryophyte diversity and analyzed the influencing pathways of plant cover, slope aspect, and slope gradient by using structural equation model to quantify influencing coefficients. Our results showed that: 1) The Patrick, Shannon, Pielou, and Simpson indcies of bryophytes under plant canopy were 63.4%, 66.6%, 91.0%, and 68.3% lower than that without plant canopy, respectively, while the thickness, biomass, and chlorophyll content of bryophyte crusts were 0.5, 0.2, and 1.3 times higher than that without plant canopy, respectively. 2) The Patrick, Shannon, Pielou, and Simpson indexes of bryophytes on the north slope were 0.6, 0.9, 5.6, and 0.9 times higher than those on the south slope, while the thickness, biomass, and chlorophyll content of bryophyte crusts were 0.3, 0.3, and 0.6 times higher than those on the south slope, respectively. 3) As the slope increasing from 14° to 34°, the Patrick, Shannon, Pielou, and Simpson indexes of bryophyte were decreased by 59.8%, 84.1%, 57.3% and 68.0%, and the thickness, biomass, and chlorophyll content of bryophyte crusts were decreased by 15.2%, 25.0%, and 16.5%, respectively. 4) The importance of the three microhabitat factors on bryophyte diversity and the development of bryophyte crusts followed an order of plant canopy cover > slope aspect > slope gradient. The primary influencing pathway varied among the microhabitat factors. In conclusion, plant cover, slope aspect, and slope gradient significantly affected the distribution of bryophytes species and developmental level of bryophyte crusts through direct and indirect pathways. Therefore, full consideration should be given to microhabitat conditions when using bryophyte crusts to control desertification.

RESUMO

We selected typical croplands in the black soil region of Northeast China to analyze the characteristics of biocrusts during the growing season, including species composition, thickness, coverage, and biomass (chlorophyll content). We collected bareground soil and biocrusts samples with chlorophyll content of 5-15, 15-25, 25-35, and 35-50 mg·g-1, and measured the soil disintegration rate and soil maximum disintegration ratio of each sample using a force gauge in the laboratory. The results showed that: 1) biocrusts dominated by algae and moss were frequently developed in the croplands, with Stigeoclonium and Bryum capillare as the most common species, respectively. The thickness and biomass of algal crusts were significantly lower than moss crusts, with a successional trend from algal crusts to moss crusts. 2) The coverage, thickness, and biomass of biocrusts in croplands were negatively correlated with the frequency and intensity of tillage disturbance. For instance, the values of those characterisitics were only 27.8%, 1.52 mm, and 6.49 mg·g-1 on average, respectively, in traditional tillage croplands, and increased to 83.5%, 2.74 mm, and 34.16 mg·g-1, respectively, in the croplands with conservational tillage. 3) Biocrusts considerably reduced the disintegration of surface soil, particularly in the layer of biocrusts. Compared to the bareground soil, the soil disintegration rate of biocrusts, with four levels of biomass (with chlorophyll content of 5-15, 15-25, 25-35, and 35-50 mg·g-1), was reduced by 43.1%, 50.1%, 55.5%, and 59.8%, respectively, while the soil maximum disintegration ratios were reduced by 11.4%, 17.7%, 33.2%, and 36.6%, respectively. 4) Soil disintegration rate and maximum disintegration ratio were significantly and negatively correlated with the biomass and thickness of biocrusts, indicating that the impacts of biocrusts on soil disintegration were primarily caused by the improvements in physical properties of surface soil. In conclusion, biocrusts were frequently deve-loped in croplands in the black soil region of Northeast China, owing to less disturbance following the conversion from traditional tillage to conservational tillage. They had the potential to protect surface soil against disintegration and improve soil anti-scourability, which was critical for soil conservation in croplands in this region.

RESUMO

The changes in soil properties caused by grazing and trampling are important reasons for the changes in soil respiration rates, carbon fixation, and emission. However, the effects of different intensities of grazing and trampling on biocrusts respiration rate are unclear. In this study, we simulated grazing and trampling disturbances of 10%, 30%, 50%, and 70% intensity on moss biocrusts developed in aeolian sandy soil on Loess Plateau, with undisturbed moss biocrusts serving as a control. The changes in respiration rate of moss biocrusts were monitored continuously, and its responses to different disturbance intensities were analyzed. The results showed that: 1) moderate disturbance stimulated moss biocrusts respiration, while heavy disturbance inhibited that. The respiration rate of moss biocrusts was increased by 41.1% and 22.2% at disturbance intensities of 10% and 30%, but was decreased by 8.9% and 15.3% at disturbance intensities of 50% and 70%, respectively. 2) The trampling disturbance significantly changed soil temperature but did not affect soil water content. In comparison to the control, soil temperature of biocrusts was decreased by 0.4 and 1.2 ℃ at disturbance intensities of 10% and 30%, but it was increased by 1.1 and 1.0 ℃ at disturbance intensities of 50% and 70%, respectively. 3) The respiration rate of moss biocrusts showed a significant exponential relationship with soil temperature and a linear positive relationship with soil water content under different disturbance intensities. However, the correlation between respiration rate of moss biocrust and the characteristics of moss biocrust was not significant. Soil temperature and water content could explain 70.6%-96.3% and 49.1%-70.0% of the total variation of respiration rate of moss biocrusts, respectively. In conclusion, grazing and trampling affected the respiration rate of moss biocrusts, with short-term moderate grazing and trampling would have positive effects. On the other hand, excessive grazing and trampling would reduce the rate of moss biocrust respiration. As a result, future studies on soil carbon balance of the Loess Plateau should consider the effects of grazing and trampling on biocrust respiration.

RESUMO

Mounting evidence has shown that exercise exerts extensive beneficial effects, including preventing and protecting against chronic diseases, through improving metabolism and other mechanisms. Recent studies have shown that exercise preconditioning affords significant cardioprotective effects. However, whether exercise preconditioning improves high fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and lipid metabolic disorder remains unknown. The study was aimed to explore the effects of exercise preconditioning on HFD-induced obesity and lipid metabolic disorder in mice. 4-week-old C57BL/6 mice were subjected to swimming or sedentary control for 3 months, and then were fed with normal diet (ND) or HFD for 4 more months. The results showed that the blood glucose was decreased, and the glucose tolerance and grip strength were increased in exercised mice after training. Exercise preconditioning failed to improve HFD-induced body weight gain, but improved HFD-induced glucose intolerance. Exercise preconditioning showed no significant effects on both exercise capacity and physical activity in ND- and HFD-fed mice. HFD feeding increased total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels in circulation, promoted subcutaneous fat and epididymal fat accumulation in mice. Exercise preconditioning increased circulating high density lipoprotein (HDL) and decreased circulating LDL, without affecting the subcutaneous fat and epididymal fat in HFD-fed mice. HFD feeding increased liver weight and hepatic total cholesterol contents, and dysregulated the expressions of several mitochondria function-related proteins in mice. These abnormalities were partially reversed by exercise preconditioning. Together, these results suggest that exercise preconditioning can partially reverse the HFD-induced lipid metabolic disorder and hepatic dysfunction, and these beneficial effects of exercise sustain for a period of time, even after exercise is discontinued.

RESUMO

The loss of volatiles results in the deterioration of flavor in tomatoes. Volatiles are mainly derived from fatty acid, carotenoid, phenylpropane, and branched chain amino acids. In this study, the tomato accession CI1005 with a strong odor and accession TI4001 with a weak odor were analyzed. The volatile contents were measured in tomato fruits using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The scores of tomato taste and odor characteristics were evaluated according to hedonistic taste and olfaction. It was found that the content of fatty acid-derived volatiles accounted for more than half of the total volatiles that had grassy and fatty aromas. Phenylpropane-derived volatiles had irritation and floral aromas. Branched-chain amino acid-derived volatiles had a caramel aroma. Carotenoid-derived volatiles had floral, fruity, fatty, and sweet-like aromas, preferred by consumers. A lack of carotenoid-derived volatiles affected the flavor quality of tomato fruits. The accumulation of carotenoid-derived volatiles is regulated by carotenoid cleavage oxygenases (CCDs). A tissue-specific expression analysis of the SlCCD genes revealed that the expression levels of SlCCD1A and SlCCD1B were higher in tomato fruits than in other tissues. The expression levels of SlCCD1A and SlCCD1B were consistent with the trend of the carotenoid-derived volatile contents. The expression of SlCCD1A was higher than that for SlCCD1B. A bioinformatics analysis revealed that SlCCD1A was more closely linked to carotenoid metabolism than SlCCD1B. The overexpression of SlCCD1A indicated that it could cleave lycopene, α-carotene, and ß-carotene to produce 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one, geranylacetone, α-ionone, and ß-ionone, increasing the floral, fruity, fatty, and sweet-like aromas of tomato fruits. The flavor quality of tomato fruits could be improved by overexpressing SlCCD1A.

RESUMO

We introduce a simple method with thermal annealing round gold disk for agglomeration to fabricate orderly arranged nanostructure arrays on diamond for single photon source applications. In the annealing process, the dependence of gold sphere size on disk thickness and diameter was investigated, showing that gold sphere diameter was decreased with decreasing gold disk thickness or diameter. The condition parameters of ICP etch were adjusted to obtain different nanostructure morphologies on diamond. The collection efficiency of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center embedded in nanostructure as-fabricated could reach to 53.56% compared with that of 19.10% in planar case with the same simulation method.

RESUMO

The outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vary between men and women. Some statistical reports have shown that men have a higher risk of developing COVID-19 and suffer from worse outcomes than females. Although there are many factors that can explain the high prevalence of COVID-19 in men, such as lifestyle habits and the different profile of comorbidities among sexes, the distinctions between male and female immune systems cannot be ignored. It has been sufficiently shown that sex differences have a critical influence on the shaping of immune response, which then leads to different pathogenesis in infectious diseases. Compared with males, females typically have a more effective innate and adaptive immune response to viral infections in COVID-19. What's more, there is a growing body of evidence showing that estrogen exerts an effect on the regulation of immune response. This article examines the effect and mechanism of estrogen on COVID-19.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the frequency of T-helper (Th)17 lymphocytes and production of cytokine interleukin (IL)-17 in peripheral blood of patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their use as a marker of clinical value. METHODS: Sixty patients with NSCLC and 60 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study. Flow cytometry was used to detect the frequency of Th17 lymphocytes in peripheral blood, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect serum levels of IL-17. We analyzed the association of Th17 lymphocytes and IL-17 levels in the peripheral blood of patients with their clinicopathological features. RESULTS: Frequency of Th17 lymphocytes and production of IL-17 were significantly higher in the NSCLC group than in the control group and were higher in patients with a smoking history compared with non-smokers. Moreover, Th17 lymphocyte and IL-17 expression levels were higher in patients with squamous cell carcinoma than in patients with adenocarcinoma, and significantly higher in patients with stage III and IV cancers than in patients at stage I or II. CONCLUSION: Th17 lymphocytes and IL-17 play an important role in the development of NSCLC in patients and may have clinical value as markers for treatment of NSCLC.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The benefits of MPP delay optimization on hemodynamics and ventricular contraction synchronicity can be quantified with cardiac index (CI) and QRS width. A delay with the maximum CI and minimum QRS width may be the optimized settings for multipoint pacing (MPP). METHODS: Twelve patients with advanced heart failure who received cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillation with MPP at the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu from March 2016 to April 2019 were included. Interventricular and intraventricular delays were optimized through noninvasive cardiac output monitoring and a 12 lead ECG. RESULTS: According to CI, the optimized left ventricular- left ventricular - right ventricular delay setting was mainly 25 ms-25 ms and 40 ms-40 ms. And the delay with the minimum QRS width was mainly in 5 ms-5 ms, 25 ms-25 ms, and 40 ms-25 ms. The optimal MPP configuration increased CI compared to the MPP setting that produced the minimum CI (4.5 ± 1.3 vs. 2.8 ± 1.0 L/min/m2, P < 0.001). The QRS width of the optimized MPP was narrower than the MPP setting that produced the maximum QRS width (127 ± 20 vs. 160 ± 29 ms, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Delay optimization improves hemodynamic response and ventricular contraction synchronicity. The delay of 25 ms-25 ms may be the optimal setting for most MPP patients.
